Or in full length
TOGETHER - Educational Center for Deaf, Blind, and Nondisabled Children Hamhung e.V.
and very short just THH

is an independent, non-political, and not-for-profit organisation which was founded on the 1st of November 2008 in Berlin and has been working since its foundation in Berlin and Pyongyang.

Our registration number at the Law Court in Berlin is VR 28600 B and our certificate from the Financial Ministry entitling us to receive donations is 27/682/52006.

The priorities of our work are
   -  Education and vocational training for deaf and blind
   -  The development of deaf and blind work in the country in general
   -  The concept of inclusion as laid out in the UN Declaration on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD)
   -  The NAUWU principle - meaning Nothing About Us Without Us - meaning we are deaf and work TOGETHER with non-disabled people, and we are sure we will
soon find the right blind to join in.

Our main partner internationally is WFD (World Federation of the Deaf).
Our main partner in Pyongyang is the Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled (KFPD). For projects we may have various partners according to topics and financing.Link to menu projects.

About our name:

The long name of our organisation equals the name of a big school project which was developed by the Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled (KFPD).

Special schools for deaf and for blind were founded already back in 1959, but the new development and the concept of inclusion as laid out in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) has set new goals which have inspired also the disability movement in North Korea: let's build a new school, an Educational Center, and try integrative education in a first step with deaf, blind, and non-disabled children - from primary school to vocational training. Based on this experience the concept of inclusion will then follow as the next step.

We have added the word TOGETHER to the project title and TOGETHER we have collected experience in smaller projects that are paving the way to the big project: the school in Hamhung. Link to menu projects.

In autumn 2008, several points had come together so that we were ready to think of the foundation of our organisation:
   -  the big project requested by the Korean side: the new school in Hamhung
   -  Robert was appointed as the Liaison Officer for KFPD and WFD
   -  An organisation would thus back his function and later serve as the counterpart of KFPD incl the function of a WFD-KFPD Liaison Office

After drafting a statute and circulating it among the 8 deaf and 2 hearing friends who were determined to join in we established our organisation on 1st November 2008.

About International Networking:

Our annual GOOD FELLOWSHIPs are a very good occasion for international networking. We are happy that we have so many applications every summer and we encourage more people to come and meet our deaf friends in Pyongyang!

Almost all our members have participated in one or more than one of our international deaf meetings called GOOD FELLOWSHIP in Pyongyang, which we have been organising every summer since 2009.See the homepage of the GOOD FELLOWSHIP

Beyond this event we are always on the lookout for new contacts with deaf and blind friends, organisations and institutions, in particular to learn about their experience in deaf and blind education. Please contact us!
